OREF is committed to supporting the development of investigators and supporting them throughout their careers.

As part of our funding mission, we prepare new investigators for a career in scientific research with a grant experience that positions them to succeed. Our rigorous peer review process ensures we fund only the best science and prepares our grant recipients to compete for NIH and other government and private funding after their OREF grants.

OREF offers grants and programs of at varying levels of commitment that can help residents and early career physicians gauge whether a dual career as a clinician and researcher is right for them.
