OREF is excited to announce the formation of a new program to assist OREF grant recipients in commercializing innovative solutions derived from their OREF-funded research.

Orizon, LLC and OREF have formed a partnership to support the acceleration-to-market of innovative orthopaedic health care technology solutions derived from OREF-funded research. The Orizon Fund will provide capital to finance the operations of new companies created to market the solutions, providing support in general management, product development, regulatory and quality assurance practices, and healthcare reimbursement guidance where appropriate.

As part of the funding process, OREF and Orizon will identify grant recipients whose OREF-funded research meets the criteria for inclusion in the Orizon Accelerator program. Orizon will work with interested OREF grant recipients to create business and product development plans that position the solution for commercial viability.

Being good stewards of our donors' generosity is of utmost importance to OREF. Orizon is receiving no financial support from OREF. We are providing limited staff resources to promote the program and facilitate communication with OREF grant recipients and selection of solutions for funding.

The Orizon partnership is designed to award the inventor, Orizon investors and OREF if a profit is generated from the commercialization. All revenue that OREF receives from the venture will be used to support our mission to fund more impactful peer reviewed MSK research.

OREF’s mission is to improve patient care and outcomes by funding outstanding musculoskeletal research. Through this partnership with Orizon, we can further support translating that research into viable solutions and making them available to health care providers and their patients.
